So I am going to write my first photo blog. A lot has been going on with my photography. When I started to get back into it after not doing it for several years, I was unsure about the style that I wanted to pursue and make into my career. It is difficult to pick a general area when I find such pleasure in all aspects of it.
I think that I have found the general area that I want to focus the majority of my time to...Fashion and Nudes!
It fills me with a great feeling of accomplishment when the models view their images and their jaw drops open and they can't believe that it is them. Despite how many times I tell them that they look great or that the images are amazing, they still have that issue of self esteem.
I have always been amazed with the human body and the curves, the perfections and Imperfections, the way light reflects differently with the various skin tones. So do I know what area I want to career? No. But, I believe that I will be focusing mostly on fashion and nudes for a while.
This brings me to my next subject...Nudes.
It is hard for an artist to convey his (or her) vision when the first thing that people think of when the hear the word nude is "porn". I was surfing through my favorite inspiration site photo.net and came across a male nude. This particular nude showed a man on his knees sitting and slightly hunched over. It was shot on white and was very well lit. But as I was reading the comments that other people wrote, I was starting to get upset.
The male in the photo appeared to be semi erect. Big deal. It appears to me that if the first thing you notice is the mans penis then you are surfing the wrong site. (Try XXX in the search field next time). Obviously you are on photo.net because you have an artistic mind and enjoy to view beautiful art and if you are under the nudes category, then guess what? You might see a penis.
There were hundreds of phenomenal images of women in ALL their splendor and glory and not one comment about porn. Yet a photo shows part of a man and they are threatened that their image will be pulled and possibly account terminated. Get real people and Grow up.
Anyways, just thought that I would express my thoughts on my first post.

You sure R dramatic
I completely agree with your point of view. True art does not focus on the vulgar or on the flaws, it's about noticing the beauty of life. True art can show the thoughts and emotions that are behind the person or object being displayed, as well as what was going on in the mind and heart of the artist them self! Thanks for sharing!
